A tripod is a three-legged stand for your camera to sit on. It is a must have accesories if you’re playing in low-light conditions a lot ( night photography, long exposure, HDR etc) . Tripod helps stabilize the camera from shakes that happens when we’re using slow shutter speed. It’s also useful for daylight shootings eg: for self portrait, remote photography etc. Like many other DSLRs, Canon T3i has a standard tripod jack, in which any normal tripod screw would fit. So, you got plenty of options when selecting a tripod for your camera.

Here’s some tips on selecting a tripod:
- Get a tripod with good stability
You want something solid to hold your precious camera. Generally, heavier tripod is more stable than lighter ones. - Make sure the tripod can support your camera total weight ( + lens and accessories )
- Easy to setup
Get a tripod that easy to setup. You don’t want to miss a moment just because setting up the tripod takes longer time. - Check the weight and dimensions of the tripod.
A heavy tripod can make a hike a miserable experience, but a light tripod can shake like a leaf in the wind. If you will be carrying the tripod extensively, consider a carbon fiber tripod - A cheaper price doesn’t always mean the tripod is of a better quality.
I use Manfrotto 055XPROB Pro tripod. It’s affordable and not to heavy. But more important is ,it’s very stable and easy to use. And with its horizontal center column , i can do macro photography more fun and easier. Just love it.
